2008: Appearances so far....

These are two recent weddings that we were performing at on April 26th 2008 and May 3rd 2008, we have played at 8 previous to these during January to April....it is now definitely
WEDDING SEASON.....so hold onto your hats! So we will be out practically every weekend now until September....

Last weekend we were performing at Airth Castle near Falkirk.
The ceremony was held inside the castle and then the guests moved onto the lawn area outside.

We stayed in the beautiful foyer which had an amazing acoustic...no need for amplification here, it was really loud!

We played Canon in D (go to http://www.stringsaloud.co.uk/ to hear this sampled and recorded by us) for the Processional, Fields of Gold for the Signing of the Register and Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve for the Recessional.

This weekend we played outside at Harburn House for the ceremony on the lawn.

We also got some "interesting" shots by the "gazebo"/hut/wendy house(?).

You will notice that we have a different cellist, Fiona McLachlan (RSAMD graduate and Cairn Quartet member). Roz was actually a guest for once at a wedding instead of playing at them all the time!
For this wedding we played Canon in D for the Processional, Ave Maria (Schubert) and Secret Wedding, Braveheart (go to www.stringsaloud.co.uk to hear this) and the Mendelssohn Wedding March for the Recessional.
This ceremony was conducted by a Humanist celebrant and was very touching, sincere and entertaining!

Stringsaloud String Quartet Glasgow

Welcome to the world of Stringsaloud String Quartet

.....the perfect accompaniment to any occasion...

Stringsaloud, http://www.stringsaloud.co.uk/, based in Glasgow, have quickly become one of Central Scotland's favourite all female string quartets. The quartet was set up in 2005 as a business by their manager and violinist Mairi Hunter-Barr.

The quartet comprises of:

Gillian Gracie: Violin

Mairi Hunter-Barr: Violin, Sales & Events Manager

Morag Currie: Viola

Rosamunde (Roz) Preston: Cello
All the girls teach their respective instruments in a variety of local authorities in Central Scotland, along with performing with Stringsaloud and other ensembles. Mairi & Gillian studied together at Strathclyde University on the BA Applied Music degree and Morag and Roz studied together at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.

The girls perform at over a hundred weddings and corporate events a year, with performances for the likes of Scottish comedian Fred McAulay and Snow Patrol.
